Tree Swingin' Fun

We had a family reunion and my kids (Brice included) discovered a rope swing. They all had a blast going as high as they possibly could. I was just a tad bit nervous though, but they thought it was great! And if you look at that great "clean" pond behind them our little fish, Mady, went for a swim in it. She swam all the way across without a life vest or anything. It gets to be about six feet deep in the middle so she was pretty brave.

Mady's First Official Hair Cut

Well with a summer of swimming almost every day, Mom's little trims weren't going to "cut it"! Mady's hair was pretty damaged from all the sun and chlorine. So she got her first real hair cut. Mom's trimmed it a few times, but always tentatively. She was pretty nervous about the whole thing until she saw the finished product. To which she replied, "I didn't know I'd look this good!"

Redneck Scout

So what's the one thing this country has that no other country has? Give up? Rednecks! And my son is one of them. Papa came home from scouts the other night and Cade wanted to wear his scout shirt and hat. He topped the whole look off by putting in Billy Bob teeth. The only thing missing is a shot gun! He thought he looked pretty sweet.

A Shooting We Will Go

Papa had mentioned to Mady that he would teach her how to shoot a while back and she was going to make sure he was good on his promise. I think she had been asking him consistently for quite some time, and Papa finally gave in! They went out shooting and she shot a 22 rifle. Papa said it was pretty awkward for her, because it was pretty big, and she had to butt it up under her armpit to reach. She did great though! She was really proud of all the holes she shot through the bottle. Next time they are going to bring a table to rest the gun on so she can be a little more steady. My little princess is following in her daddy's footsteps!

Cade's First Day of School, or He Wishes

After all this talk about Mady going to school, Cade finally had had enough. He had been telling me that he was going to go to school too, for the last few weeks so I knew this was inevitable. Today was the last straw. He went in his room and filled his backpack full of books and put on his school hat (I don't know where he got that idea, Dad maybe), and headed out the door. He was confused as to why I wasn't getting in the car and driving off with him. He was pretty ticked when Mom wasn't following his lead. I know we are all having Mady withdrawals and Cade although he wont admit it is no exception. Your day will come (heaven help the teachers!).

School Is In Session!

It was a big day for Mady, she had her first day of Kindergarten. Last night she got out of bed and told me that she was too excited to sleep. She even woke up before her alarm clock went off, at 6:30!!! I can't believe my baby is in school. She has a great teacher and has already made a lot of new friends. While we were having the parent orientation this morning her teacher asked if anyone had questions. Mady of course shot up her hand, and for about five minutes told the entire group about her dog, Tinkerbell, and how she sleeps with her every night, in the shape of a "C". Anyways everyone thought it was hilarious. Fifteen minutes later she wanted to share another story, when the teacher asked if there were any other questions, but I was able to convince Mady that the teacher was wanting feedback from the parents and that she would have the whole year to tell her teacher lots of things. I know she will excel at anything she wants to do and that both mom and dad couldn't be more proud!

A Day at the County Fair

We ventured off to the county fair early in the morning to beat the crowds. We had a great time looking at all the different animals while making animal noises ourselves. After looking at the animals the kids got a bunch of free stuff to take home (Hooray for me!)! We all know where it ends up in about two weeks (hush, hush)! Anyways we had a great time with all of our friends and with the good fair food (good thing it only comes around once a year, there is only so much yummy fried food you can handle).
